I think there is a lot to be said about setting a scene seamlessly. My mentor, Alan Heathcock (Al) once told me: “Capture the humane experience and don’t include anything in your stories that isn’t apart of your character’s true experience.”
I’m not gonna lie. It took me a LONG time to finally get what he was saying. I understood it, but my understanding didn’t translate into my stories until one day it clicked and I did it. Now I can’t go back to doing anything else because doing it gives me goosebumps!
So I made a video on 4 steps to seeing a scene. The video below is the abridged version and at the end you can find the link to the extended version where I go into detail and use examples.
Enjoy!
Again, heaps of awesome advice here. 🙂 I will definitely have this advise in mind as I continue my revisions. I think it’d be helpful though if you added a little heading each time you introduced a new point just to segment the vlog a little. Like paragraphs. 🙂
Thanks! Thats really helpful feedback! I’ve been looking for ways to structure them more!
