I really wanted to cover something that’s been driving me crazy lately. DATA DUMPING. I’ve read a lot of stories that use data dumping as the main source of delivering backstory. Now, this was a hard concept for me to figure out when I first wroteΒ The Keeper’s Vow. But after a lot of time really thinking about how we learn about people and discover their backstories (and a lot of chats with my husband who really had the light bulb moment), I bring to you some solid advice on how to do it.Β So, as usual, sit back, relax and enjoy!
I love the vlog. There were some awesome tips π
Thanks! π I’m trying to put together all the things I had trouble with when I started out writing. I felt like they were massive road blocks yet, the way around them is so simple I can’t help but share them!
If you have any ideas on videos I should make PLEASE throw them at me. Is there anything you struggled with when you first started writing?
I’ll try and think of some things π One thing I struggled with (and still do, really) is not so much to do with novel writing as with blogging. I always have trouble thinking of inventive and engaging content to post.
π omg…we’re on the same page…the struggle! I think that’s why I’m vloging now. It just doesn’t feel as stressful as bloging, it’s faster and a different kind of creative that balances out my writing.
I think Blogging was starting to feel like a chore because of the writing aspect and thinking of content and my ideas being SOOO fleeting.
Now put me in front of a camera (though I’m super self-conscience about it) I can blab all day!
I completely understand the blogging feeling like a chore thing. But I’m not so sure I’d do well at vlogging. At least with blogging, I can edit my thoughts down. If I tried a vlog, it would start coherent and end as a rambling comparison of cake and cats π
πππ I have to edit SOO much out. I get so distracted…and even still I’m working on structuring my video’s so I am coherent. But I’d totally watch you if you talked about writing and books, and randomly threw in cake and cats.
Haha well I may consider it one day π
